About

Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) is the National Standard Body of India established under the BIS Act 2016 for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. BIS has its Headquarters at New Delhi and its 05 Regional Offices (ROs) are at Kolkata (Eastern), Chennai (Southern), Mumbai (Western), Chandigarh (Northern) and Delhi (Central). BIS has taken the initiative of creating Standards Clubs in educational institutions comprising of teachers and students as members. Through a variety of activities under these Clubs, young talents get learning opportunities in the field of quality and standardization. Teachers have an important role in the activities of the Clubs and would serve as beacons of light, guiding and motivating students to channelize their creativity and enhance their scientific temperament. The IPS College of Technology and Management, Gwalior has created four Standards Clubs in association with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to disseminate knowledge and create awareness about qualities of different products as per BIS specifications.

The main objectives of the clubs are

  • To provide learning opportunities in the field of quality and standardization through mutual collaboration in the form of a standard club among the students.
  • To help improving the learning experience of students and provide opportunities to better their professional and personal growth by carrying out a variety of programmes such as conducting awareness program, conducting competitions and arranging Industrial exposure visit etc.
